We launched this project on Jun 25, 2011 at IndieWeb Camp with a first commit defining goals for a client, a server and the overall experience. github
We called it Smallest Federated Wiki then because we thought we could get a working prototype in a weekend.
A year later we had a pretty good version that we moved to its own org and dropped any claim about being small.
